My First Peptide

Taking the plunge into peptides? This guide is your hand-holding companion. We'll walk through everything from supplies to expectations, with zero judgment for "dumb" questions (there aren't any).

This is not medical advice, nor a recommendation to use any substance. Peptides discussed may not be FDA-approved for human use. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider.

You've Got This

Everyone starts somewhere. That jacked dude at the gym posting about his peptide stack? He was nervous about his first injection too. It's normal to feel uncertain. By the end of week one, you'll wonder why you were worried.

Why Start with BPC-157?

We recommend BPC-157 as your first peptide for a few reasons:

Incredibly Well-Tolerated

Side effects are rare and minimal. Your body actually produces BPC naturally. It's about as gentle as peptides get.

Clear, Measurable Results

Have a nagging injury? You'll know if it's working. Healing is tangible - you can actually see/feel progress.

Simple Protocol

Once or twice daily, SubQ injection, no complicated timing requirements. Perfect for learning the ropes.

Affordable Entry Point

BPC-157 is reasonably priced and a 5mg vial lasts 2-4 weeks. Low cost to test the waters.

Alternative first peptides: TB-500 (healing), Ipamorelin (GH/sleep), or Semax (cognitive) are also beginner-friendly if you have specific goals beyond healing.

Supplies Checklist

Get everything before your peptide arrives. Nothing worse than having product and no way to use it.

The Basics

Peptide vial(s)Start with one peptide
Bacteriostatic water (BAC)30ml bottle is standard
Insulin syringes29-31G, 1/2" needle, 1ml
Alcohol swabsBox of 100 is cheap
Sharps containerOr thick plastic bottle

Nice to Have

Syringe storage caseKeeps supplies organized
Fridge thermometerVerify storage temp
Small cooler bagFor travel
Mixing vials (empty)For pre-loading
Labels/markerDate your reconstitution

Pro tip: Buy more syringes than you think you need. They're cheap, and you'll mess up a few while learning. Get at least 2x what your protocol requires.

What to Expect: Week by Week

Here's a realistic timeline of your first month. Every person is different, but this gives you a general idea.

Week 1

Getting Comfortable

🏋️ Physical

  • You might feel... nothing. That's normal.
  • Possible slight warmth or tingling at injection site
  • Some people report better sleep (especially with BPC)
  • Mild appetite changes possible

🧠 Mental

  • First few injections feel weird - embrace it
  • You'll obsess over every sensation (also normal)
  • Establish your routine - same time daily helps
  • Keep a simple journal if you want to track

💡 Don't expect miracles. You're building foundation.

Week 2

Finding Your Rhythm

🏋️ Physical

  • Injection technique improving
  • If healing peptide: may notice injury feeling better
  • Energy levels might stabilize
  • Sleep quality potentially improving

🧠 Mental

  • Anxiety about injections usually fades
  • Protocol becomes routine
  • You stop checking the injection site constantly
  • Starting to trust the process

💡 Consistency is everything. Don't skip doses.

Week 3

First Real Signs

🏋️ Physical

  • BPC-157: Noticeable improvement in healing
  • TB-500: Reduced inflammation/pain
  • Sleep peptides: Clear sleep improvement
  • Some report improved recovery from workouts

🧠 Mental

  • Confidence building
  • Less second-guessing
  • May start researching next peptide (peptide rabbit hole begins)
  • Protocol feels natural now

💡 This is where many people "feel it." Stay patient if you don't yet.

Week 4

Assessment Time

🏋️ Physical

  • Healing peptides: Significant improvement
  • Can evaluate if it's working for you
  • Body has adapted to the compound
  • Good time to assess side effects (should be minimal)

🧠 Mental

  • You're officially experienced now
  • Can decide to continue, adjust, or try something else
  • Have real data about how your body responds
  • Ready to explore or optimize

💡 Take stock. What worked? What didn't? Use this info.

Sample First Protocol: BPC-157

The Basics

  • Commonly Reported Dose: 250-500mcg per day
  • Frequency: Once or twice daily
  • Method: SubQ injection
  • Location: Near injury site or abdomen
  • Duration: 4-8 weeks

Reconstitution Example

  • • 5mg vial + 2ml BAC water
  • • = 2.5mg per ml (2500mcg/ml)
  • • 250mcg dose = 0.1ml (10 units on insulin syringe)
  • • 500mcg dose = 0.2ml (20 units)
  • • 5mg vial lasts ~20 days at 250mcg/day

Common Questions

Questions everyone has but is afraid to ask.

How do I know if it's working?

Depends on the peptide. For BPC-157/TB-500, you should notice injury healing faster than usual within 2-4 weeks. For GH peptides, better sleep and recovery. Keep a simple log of how you feel.

What if I miss a dose?

Don't panic. Just take your next scheduled dose. Don't double up. Consistency matters more than perfection. One missed dose won't ruin anything.

Can I take multiple peptides?

Yes, many do. But start with ONE. Learn how your body responds to it first. Then you can add others later. Stacking too early means you won't know what's doing what.

How long should I run a peptide?

Depends on the compound and your goals. BPC-157 for healing: typically 4-8 weeks until healed. GH peptides: often run continuously or in cycles. Research your specific peptide.

Is it normal to feel nothing?

For healing peptides, yes - you might not "feel" anything except your injury getting better. BPC-157 isn't psychoactive. The effects are subtle and cumulative.

What if I get a bruise or red mark?

Totally normal, especially when learning. Rotate injection sites, don't inject too fast, and it'll happen less over time. A small bruise is harmless.

Do I need blood work?

For healing peptides like BPC-157: usually not necessary. For GH secretagogues or anything affecting hormones: baseline bloodwork is smart. Know your IGF-1, GH, etc.

Can I drink alcohol while on peptides?

Most peptides don't interact with alcohol directly. But alcohol impairs healing and sleep - which defeats the purpose of many peptides. Moderate if you must.

You're Ready

Seriously. If you've read this far, you know more than 90% of people who try peptides for the first time. You understand storage, injection technique, and realistic expectations.

The only thing left is to actually do it. Your first injection will be nerve-wracking. Your second will be easier. By your fifth, you'll be wondering what the big deal was.
